Our Christmas Fair at St Francis Church gave members the chance to celebrate the festive season and take brave steps towards their personal goals on our 10-Step Programme…
Walk Talk Action recently held its annual Christmas Fair at St Francis Church. It brought together members, volunteers, and the wider community for a day of festive fun, handmade crafts, and shared connections.
The Fair was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season and start the Christmas shopping list. It was also a moment to reflect on the achievements of those taking part in WTA’s 10-Step Programme.
Two women, in particular, made remarkable strides. They showed how the programme helps participants challenge themselves, build confidence, and embrace new experiences…
Shamila strikes a chord
Shamila, one of our programme participants, set herself the goal of performing on ukulele and singing in front of an audience. It would be a huge moment for her to step into the spotlight.
On the day of the Fair, she took to the task with poise and confidence, and performed flawlessly despite a bustling crowd.
Indeed, her calm and collected presence was a joy to witness. It highlighted the dedication and courage she has shown throughout her journey with WTA.
Shamila’s achievement is a testament to the power of setting personal goals and having the support of a community to reach them.

Stepping up to success
Another participant, who wishes to remain anonymous, faced a different kind of challenge: running her very first stall at the Fair.
For her, this meant confronting the anxiety and self-doubt that often come with stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
Despite initial nerves, she managed to engage warmly with visitors, display her handmade items, and successfully navigate the experience.
Reflecting on the day, she shared how much it had boosted her confidence and sense of worth:
“It was a big step for me to ‘show up’ and withstand the anxiety and low confidence. I never expected to sell anything, let alone be so warmly greeted. It’s given me a super, super boost of worthiness. I might even do another craft fair now.”
Celebrating every achievement
The Christmas Fair provided the perfect setting for participants to put their goals into practice in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Moments like these show how the 10-Step Programme isn’t just about personal development in theory. It’s about real-life achievements. Whether that’s picking up an instrument, trying a new skill, or simply stepping into a space that feels intimidating.
At WTA, we celebrate every step taken outside a comfort zone. Each milestone, no matter how big or small, is a victory. Events like the Christmas Fair are reminders of what’s possible when people are given the encouragement, tools, and safe space to grow.
