Overcoming barriers

Read the personal stories of people who have approached Walk Talk Action for support with mental health and turned their lives around. These are our mental health success stories…

Sheila’s story

When Sheila's physical health started to become a problem, it affected her mental health. But then she found something that inspired her…

Trevor’s story

Trevor is a veteran who was unhappy in his previous role and had a sudden urge to help others. He and three friends are now doing just that.

Tony’s story

When Tony lost two of his friends following a tragic canoeing accident, he sought help to confront his fears and get back onto the water.

I don’t know where my life would be right now, I was in a mess. My life meant nothing to me and I completely lost myself.

Walk Talk Action has given me so much hope for the future and has shown me that I can achieve what it is I want to achieve. The walking and talking groups have opened my eyes to a completely new way of thinking and approaching issues in my life in general. They are not just walks, or talks. The whole thing is a powerful method of getting people to open up about their problems if they want to.

They take your mind off everything and allow you to be free and equal – no one is better than you sort of thing. That’s why I like it anyway. There is a great atmosphere among all the groups and I’ve always felt involved. Just want to say thank you so much.
