Walk Leader

Location: Stoke-on-Trent, UK

Job Type: Part-time, Contract (2 hours minimum per week)

Salary: £22.50 per hour

Job Description:
Are you a nature enthusiast with a passion for promoting physical and mental well-being? Walk Talk Action (WTA) is on the lookout for dedicated individuals to join us as Walk Leaders. As a Walk Leader, you will be at the forefront of fostering a positive and inclusive environment through guided group walks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead group walks, ensuring the inclusion and comfort of all participants.
  • Monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions regarding walk cancellations in extreme weather.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before scheduled walks, confirming participants, and conducting pre-walk safety checks.
  • Carry and maintain a basic First Aid Kit and wellbeing pack
  • Ensure appropriate attire and equipment for varying terrains and weather conditions.
  • Complete WTA Walk Leader Training*
  • Foster a supportive environment by addressing individual needs and injuries.
  • Introduce yourself as the Walk Leader and engage with participants throughout the walk.
  • Facilitate cafe visits during walks, covering expenses for one hot/cold drink per participant.
  • Conduct safety briefings, including disclaimers and emergency procedures.
  • Document and report any incidents or issues promptly.
  • Maintain communication with WTA leadership and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Encourage participant feedback and actively seek ways to enhance our services.
  • Uphold professional conduct, wearing provided uniform during walks.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in leading group activities.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Basic knowledge of First Aid.
  • Physical fitness to lead outdoor walks.
  • Familiarity with route planning tools
  • Reliable transportation and a charged mobile phone
  • Must have own car

Walk Leader Volunteer

Location: Stoke-on-Trent, UK

Salary: This is a voluntary position. Mileage and expenses will be paid and you will receive free Walk Leader training.

Assistant Facilitator

Are you an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in community well-being? Walk Talk Action (WTA) is expanding its team and is seeking Assistant Facilitators to contribute to the success of our mental health programs. Join us in making a difference in the lives of individuals facing various challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Open/close venues and manage key-holding duties.
  • Understand and support WTA’s criteria and programs, including the ten-week program.
  • Learn to use Microsoft Forms and other relevant tools.
  • Build relationships with partner organisations and attend professional meetings.
  • Assist in setting up venues for workshops and events.
  • Take minutes, recruit volunteers, and encourage participation in steering group meetings.
  • Update social media, create posts/events, and contribute to fundraising activities.
  • Research mental health facts from reputable sources (e.g., World Health Organisation).

Requirements:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Forms and other relevant software.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Previous experience in event planning or community engagement.
