mental health success story

Nathan is a veteran who suffers with PTSD and depression. When we met him, he was very keen on fundraising for the forces community and giving back.

Nathan joined our 10-Step Programme after a friend of his recommended that he should come along and give it a go.

Aiming high

Nathan’s ambition was to write a book about his life and how PTSD is a huge part of the way he is.

Walk Talk Action’s 10-Step Programme is bespoke to the participant. It is designed to suit each individual person’s needs. Therefore, no two programmes are alike.

During Nathan’s time with WTA, we connected with carefully selected professionals who could help him pursue his ambition.

Wanting change to happen

One of the chapters within the 10-Step Programme is the meeting with professionals. This is where WTA invites all organisations specifically chosen for each participant to come and deliver a speech about who they are and what they can offer.

It is then up to the participant to make the connection themselves.

As you can imagine, this is a huge step for them. And it’s where the ‘want’ comes into play.

How much do they want to make a change?

How much do they want to make that final step towards achieving their goal.

“Soldering On has been turned into a brand now and we have a clothing line coming up. We’ll be doing talks and corporate events etc. So yeah. It’s going great.

To be fair, it’s all thanks to Walk Talk Action. They put me in touch with the right people.

I certainly achieved my goal for the end of the 10-Step Programme. And my second book is nearly finished.”

Realising the ambition

Nathan was introduced to Darren Brookes – life coach and author – and the rest is history.

He published his first book, Soldiering On – A Journey With PTSD and invited WTA to the launch.

As Nathan says in his feedback, Soldiering On is now a brand and he is doing a tour to talk about his experiences.

Well done Nathan for everything you’ve achieved and for continuing your journey.

Walk Talk Action is honoured to have been part of it.
