Since its launch on 26th April 2023, Walk Talk Action’s Tea & Toast drop-in sessions have become a lifeline for the local community…
Building community, one slice at a time
Sessions are held every Wednesday during term time from 10:00am to 12:00pm at St. Francis Church on Sandon Road. They’re free to attend and offer a safe, friendly, and non-judgemental environment. People can connect, share, and simply enjoy some tea and toast.
Over the past 57 sessions, we’ve welcomed an incredible 932 attendees. A testament to the positive impact it has had on the community.
Of course, it’s not just about tea and toast (although plenty of both are consumed each week!). It’s about creating a space where people can combat loneliness and isolation, make new friends, and access the support they need to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
A collaborative effort
What makes Tea & Toast truly special is the collaborative spirit that drives it.
To date, 36 organisations have taken part, offering their expertise and support to those attending.
Partners have included NHS Combined Health, The Wellbeing College, Potteries Moneywise, Healthy Homes, Staffordshire University, and local councillors, MPs, artists, and authors, among many others.
By listening to attendees and inviting the right people and organisations as special guests, Tea & Toast has become a bridge to opportunities, skills, hobbies, and essential services.
Powered by volunteers
The weekly sessions are run by a dedicated team of volunteers who ensure everything runs smoothly.
However, as the sessions grow in popularity, Walk Talk Action is actively seeking additional volunteers to help during school holidays.
If you’re looking for a rewarding way to give back to your community, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

How you can support Tea & Toast
Sessions are completely free to attend, but donations are always appreciated to cover the cost of bread, butter, milk, and other essentials.
Every contribution helps keep this vital community initiative running.
Whether it’s through donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, your support makes a real difference.
Looking ahead
As Walk Talk Action celebrates its fifth year, the team is excited to continue growing the Tea & Toast sessions. We want to ensure they remain a cornerstone of connection and support for the community.
The team is also eager to hear from individuals or organisations who would like to join as guest speakers, bringing fresh ideas and opportunities to the sessions.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has supported Tea & Toast over the past year.
Your generosity, time, and enthusiasm have made it the success it is today.
Here’s to many more slices of toast and countless cups of tea shared in the company of friends old and new.
