Familiar start, fresh adventure
Our walk will begin in an area that many of our regulars may recognise from one of our first Wilderness Walks back in October. This time, however, we’ll be exploring an entirely new route through the forest.
We’ll venture along a fresh path through a landscape that has been transformed by the arrival of Summer. We’ll follow lesser-walked trails that are now shrouded in greenery and alive with seasonal colour.
Following the forest wildlife
We should expect temperatures to be higher than our previous visit. Thus, we’ll take inspiration from the deer and seek cooler, shaded areas as we weave our way deeper into the forest.
Speaking of deer, with a little luck we may even catch sight of some of Cannock Chase’s magnificent red deer along this path.
Later in the walk, we’ll begin a gentle climb towards another spectacular viewpoint — something that has become a hallmark of many of our Wilderness Walks.
Slowing down to notice more
Summer brings a special kind of magic to this part of The Chase. The paths are narrower, the ground is firmer, and around every corner there’s something new waiting to be discovered.
This is a walk where we’ll focus on the finer details. We’ll pause to admire flowers we’ve never noticed before. We’ll listen to birdsong we may not be able to identify. And we’ll be in awe of insects whose names are unfamiliar.
Indeed, rather than rushing from one destination to the next, we’ll allow ourselves the time and space to appreciate the beauty unfolding around us.
Our walks are a nature experience first and foremost. They’re an opportunity to slow down, look closer and rediscover a sense of wonder in the world around us.
