Seven Springs car park entrance.

WTA Walk Leader, Lee Quinn, is back to lead another Cannock Chase adventure on Friday 17th October 2025…

This time, we’ll be starting from Seven Springs Car Park, off Rugeley Road in Little Haywood (ST17 0WT), and venturing along some of Cannock Chase’s lesser-known paths.

It’s a perfect opportunity to stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh forest air, and enjoy some good company along the way.

What to expect

We’ll be meeting at 9:30am sharp and finishing around midday. The walk is classed as *Moderately Difficult (4)**, so a good level of fitness and mobility is needed to get the most out of the experience.

The route features:

  • A long, steep hill early on
  • Flat fire roads for easier stretches
  • Loose-gravel downhill sections
  • Tree-lined paths with the scent of pine to finish

While this is a relaxing and enjoyable walk, it’s not suitable for complete beginners.

For safety reasons, anyone with injuries or illnesses won’t be able to join, and dogs cannot be accommodated due to the early stag rutting season.

We may spot some red deer if we’re lucky!

What to bring

Lee recommends preparing for any weather with the following essentials:

  • Sturdy walking boots (or at least suitable walking shoes)
  • Quick-drying trousers or leggings (jeans are not advised)
  • Layers: base layer/t-shirt, mid-layer/fleece, and waterproof coat
  • Hat and gloves
  • Sunglasses (depending on the weather)
  • Personal medication (e.g. asthma inhaler)
  • One-litre bottle of water or cold drink
  • Small flask of tea or coffee for a rest stop
  • Snacks to maintain energy
  • Binoculars for wildlife spotting
  • Fully charged phone with emergency contacts
  • Small backpack to carry everything comfortably

A few practical notes

There are no toilets at Seven Springs car park.
